LED BY LIVED EXPERIENCE
KONG LEFEAU
Beyond the Label Facilitator
Kong Lefeau understands transformation from the inside.
After spending 24 years incarcerated, he returned to society and navigated the realities of reentry—rebuilding identity, relationships, employment, and his place in the community.

His journey eventually led into the skilled trades, union workforce, civic leadership, and a life built beyond the labels attached to his past.

Beyond the Label™ combines Kong’s lived experience with EL’ona Kearney’s Mindset Reset transformation framework to help participants examine who they learned to become to survive—and intentionally cultivate who they choose to become next.
HOW BEYOND THE LABEL™ WORKS
Identify
Participants examine the identities, labels, beliefs, and survival patterns shaped by their environments and experiences—and how those patterns may continue showing up after incarceration.
Separate
Participants learn to distinguish between who they are and who they learned to become to survive. The label, the record, and the past become part of their story—not the definition of their future.
REBUILD & APPLY
Participants intentionally develop new responses, characteristics, and strategies they can apply to relationships, employment, decision-making, conflict, and life in the community.
Reentry is more than returning to the community. It is learning how to live beyond the identity that once helped you survive.
THE BEYOND THE LABEL™ EXPERIENCE
Beyond the Label can be delivered in correctional facilities, reentry programs, workforce-development programs, community organizations, and other settings serving justice-impacted individuals.
IDENTITY & MINDSET
Examine labels, identity, survival patterns, and the beliefs participants carry from one environment into another.
REENTRY & LIFE SKILLS
Apply new ways of thinking and responding to relationships, conflict, responsibility, decision-making, and everyday life after incarceration.
WORKFORCE TRANSITION
Explore how prison and street survival skills can be recognized, reframed, and developed into strengths that support employment, teamwork, leadership, and long-term stability.
LIVED-EXPERIENCE CONNECTION
Kong brings credibility that cannot be taught from a textbook—creating space for candid conversations about incarceration, prison politics, street dynamics, reentry, work, and transformation.
Every reentry journey is different. Beyond the Label™ can be tailored to the population, setting, and outcomes your organization is working toward.
