BREAKING NEWS: BEING THE FIRST DOESN'T MEAN IT'S THE BEST, SAYS EL’ONA KEARNEY FOR GOVERNOR

***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***

Seattle, WA – April 29, 2024- EL’ona Kearney, candidate for governor of Washington State, has called out her opponents for engaging in virtue signaling tactics throughout the campaign.

In recent months, EL’ona has observed her opponents’ making claims of being the "first" or the "only" in various aspects of their campaigns. Hilary Franz, prior to dropping out of the race, touted herself as the only woman battling a male-dominated career in the gubernatorial race. However, another candidate Reggie for Governor points out that EL’ona has worked in various male-dominated fields and is also a candidate in the same race.

Similarly, Semi Bird's supporters criticized both EL’ona and Hilary for Hilary’s virtue signaling is why he is promoting Semi Bird's campaign based on the fact that he would be the first black governor in Washington state history.

EL’ona also highlights the actions of Bob Ferguson, whose campaign often boasts about being the first to do certain things, such as a 39-county tour or addressing ferry issues. However, EL’ona argues that these claims are not always accurate and are often fueled by financial backing that drowns out smaller candidates like herself.

In response to these tactics, EL’ona emphasizes that while there may be a "first" for everything, it doesn't necessarily mean it's the best. The reason she has not been riding the virtue signaling wave is because she is focused on being a worthy candidate who walks the talk. Despite the possibility of being the first black woman in U.S. history to hold the office of governor, EL’ona wants to be respected for her qualifications, experiences, and background, which she believes are representative of all Washingtonians.
