If elected, EL'ona would make history as the first black woman in the United States to win a governorship, a remarkable achievement for a small-town girl from Inverness. Her story embodies the Florida sunshine, bringing warmth and optimism to a state often clouded by controversy and challenges.

A native of Citrus County with her family still residing there, EL'ona Kearney's life story is characterized by overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities. After serving with distinction in military intelligence, she faced homelessness as a single parent upon returning to civilian life.

Undeterred by her circumstances, EL'ona's resilience propelled her forward, eventually leading to stable housing and homeownership in Washington State. Her experiences as a homeless veteran and single mother have fueled her passion for advocacy and community empowerment, inspiring her to seek political office to enact positive change.

"I believe in the power of advocacy. I know it both personally and politically," says EL'ona Kearney. "My journey from homelessness to homeownership has taught me the importance of perseverance and the transformative impact of collective action. As Governor of Washington State, I will fight tirelessly to ensure that every individual has access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive."

EL'ona Kearney interned for former Florida State Representative Jimmie T. Smith and served as JV Commander of VFW Post 1263.
